3 Ways to Make Great Summer Family Vacation Memories

May 9, 2017 By Nicole Loomis Leave a Comment

Summer Vacation

Take a family vacation and make some amazing memories

There are so many options for family vacations, but no matter where you choose to travel make sure you unplug and take the time to connect with your children.  Here are three ways you can work together and create some amazing family vacation memories.

  1.  Play

Saying goodbye to the normal hectic routine of our busy lives is great but when you go on vacation play with your kids, no matter what age.  Jump in and swim down the lazy river instead of reading your magazine and watching the kids.  Put away all electronics and challenge your offspring to a miniature golf tournament, or see who can swing the highest at the playground.  Remember what it was like to be a kid, put away the worries and have ice cream cones for dinner.

  2.  Get Crafty

Create a summer memory project and work on it together with your kids.  Scrapbooking is a great option and you can make it easy and post pictures from your trip, along with ticket stubs, and other collected items.  If your summer vacation takes you to the beach you can keep a few of your favorite shells on display in a pretty Mason jar.  Decide on something to collect, magnets, candles, tourist hats or shirts, Christmas ornaments and make it a new family tradition.

  3.   Hand over the Ropes

Pick a day when the kids can make all the shots.  No matter what age your kids are, hand over the control for the daily activities and let them be the planners for activities, breakfast, lunch, dinner.  Set a realistic budget and a few guidelines and then sit back and go along for the fun!

Summer vacation is such a great time to really connect with your children and have fun.  I always find when we return from a family trip we just feel so much closer.  When everyone gets to let loose and have fun you can really bond together as a family and have fun!  Laughter and adventure are vacation goals for some amazing summer memories.

Slow down and reflect

November 8, 2016 By Nicole Loomis Leave a Comment

As a business owner and mom I know how easy it is to have the calendar fill up and quickly the days turn into weeks and it seems as if the to do’s are never done.  As we enter November and kick off a traditionally busy time of the year for many as we plan events with family and friends, I am challenging myself to slow down. Slow down and be more present, as well as more selective on what gets my time and attention.  November is also a great time to plan for 2017 and I have been spending time focusing on my business and personal travel plans for 2017.

This summer my husband and I took our 2 children for a relaxing long weekend in the Florida Keys.  We are usually busy vacationers, it is usually Disney or somewhere that feels like we need a vacation after the vacation.  This was a nice break and we had long days  with just the beach and snorkeling, it was amazing. By day 2 we all got into such a more relaxed and playful routine none of us wanted to leave and return to our busy days. My young daughter and I sat watching a bird at sunset off the beach diving for his supper and we talked about the type of things that I had not realized she even thought about. When planning this year I am going to make sure that while we will still visit our beloved Walt Disney World, we will also take time to just relax and slow down.

Keep the magic of your vacation memories alive with these gift ideas

November 4, 2016 By Nicole Loomis Leave a Comment

Some of our best memories of vacations were never captured in photos or on videos.  They live on in the collective minds of my family and we keep them alive when we retell the stories and laugh about our trips and adventures.  The pictures that we do have I like to put into photo books or photo frames so the kids can access them whenever they want. They love to flip through the pictures and it always jogs their memory of other moments from the trip we might have forgotten.  It is too easy to leave them in your phone or on your computer so here are a few gift ideas for your fellow travelers to brighten up their day.  We invest time and money into our trips so by caring for the memories after you travel your investment gives back again and again.

One company I like to use for photobooks and photo gifts is Artifact Uprising.  Artifact Uprising  was founded by professional photographers who were also sisters.  They wanted to make it possible to create printed photo goods with great quality and design while also using responsibly-sourced materials.  You can read more about their story on their website.

Our first pick for vacation photos is their Instagram Friendly Books.

Brass Easel with Calendar

Select 12 of your favorite vacation photos and you have a beautiful gift someone (or you) would love to display on their desk.  I like this too because next year you can just order more pictures and create a new calendar and reuse the base.
