Walt Disney World
Walt Disney World with the Grandparents
We celebrated my son’s birthday with a trip to Walt Disney World. My son’s birthday wish was for Grandma and Grandpa to come with us. We usually like to go to Disney during the Winter when it is cooler. My parents can not walk very far and the heat and all of the action tires them out. Thanks to the wonderful Walker Mobility Company they actually made it to the park closing at Magic Kingdom!
We rented two scooters from Walker Mobility and they delivered them directly to the Resort we were staying at, the Polynesian Village Resort.
Walker Mobility set up an hour drop off window and they were very prompt and met us right in front of the resort. It was a very quick process. We chose to stay at the Polynesian because of the Monorail. We had previously stayed at the Art of Animation and also rented scooters but it was a bit of a process taking the bus. Since this was a shorter trip we did not want to tie up so much time going back and forth on the bus. The monorail is very easy to board with a scooter, the Disney employees have a ramp that they quickly put down for the scooters to load onto the monorail.
Having the scooters delivered right to the resort helps the grandparents too since the resorts are typically large and require quite a bit of walking. We settled in at the pool while we waited for our room to be ready. The moment you walk onto the Polynesian property you begin to relax, it is beautiful. The pool area can keep the kids busy all day.
There is a water slide in the main pool and another splash area with a smaller water slide.
The views from the pool are beautiful. You can also walk out onto a little beach area and there is a boat launch.
You can also see the new Disney Vacation Club Bora Bora Bungalows.
When you are ready to head to the Magic Kingdom you head back to the main building. You can stop and grab a Dole Whip at the Pineapple Lanai, which we did and they were so delicious and refreshing! There is dining, shopping and the monorail is upstairs.
And don’t miss looking up for even more beautiful decor.
We made it to the Magic Kingdom and had a Fabulous Day! It was a very special trip and the kids really enjoyed sharing all of the rides with Grandma and Grandpa. We took it a little slower than we might normally have done, adding in some of the rides we don’t always get to see like the Carousel of Progress and it was a really great trip. We made reservations at the Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch and they brought out a cupcake for my son’s birthday and all of the waiters came and sang Happy Birthday Patriot! It was a lot of fun. Can’t wait to go back! Traveling with the grandparents is such a special thing for children. Taking everyone out of the daily hustle bustle and experiencing new things together is such an amazing memory I hope they keep forever. I loved sitting next to my Dad and Son listening to them discuss American History as we sat in Epcot’s American Adventure. Watching my Mom and Daughter ride Dumbo together as they both laughed was really so much fun. We love to go to Disney because of the reason Walt Disney himself said
“We believed in our idea – a family park where parents and children could have fun- together.”
Fun picture tip when you walk down Main Street you will see the balloon sellers, they will kindly hold the balloons for a very fun photo op 🙂
